The argan tree grows almost only in south-west Morocco, and the Essaouira region is one of its heartlands. Its oil, culinary or cosmetic, is largely produced by women’s cooperatives.
At a cooperative you see each step from cracking the nuts to pressing the oil, with a tasting of amlou and oil. Depending on the day, add a rural souk where villagers do their weekly shopping.
Back via the coast and Sidi Kaouki for tea facing the ocean.
